Project Description

The Works include the complete construction of two Vertical Direct Chill (VDC) Pits at the Project site.

The first pit (Slab Pit) will have plan dimensions of approximately 10.45m by 8.3m and a depth of 16m below the ground surface. An approximately 2.85m diameter bored hole with grouted-in steel casing will extend below the pit base.

The second pit (Billet Pit) will have plan dimensions of approximately 10.55m by 6.9 and a depth of 14m below the ground surface. An approximately 2.55m diameter bored hole with grouted-in steel casing will extend below the pit base.

Scope of Works:

• Mobilization and demobilization of contractor’s equipment and facilities.
• Survey and set out.
• Excavation area clearing and grubbing.
• Concrete, reinforcement, formwork, waterproofing for the concrete pit.
• Dewatering Works if required.
• Steel caisson installation.
• Water leak test.
• Grouting works.
• Embedded items.
