Project Description

The Khalifa Bin Salman Port and Industrial Area at Hidd project comprises the planning, design and construction of Phase I of a new deep water port together with around 700 hectares of reclamation to provide a corridor for the Port access roadway and an area for industrial development. In Phase I, basic infrastructure will be provided over approximately one third of the maximum area that may be reclaimed for industrial use.

The Ministry of Works and Housing, Construction Projects Directorate (CPD) are the executing authority for the works and the End-Users are the Ministry of Industry, Industrial Area Directorate (lAD) for the Industrial Area and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Customs and Ports Affairs (CPA) for the Port.

Key Construction Elements :

24,000,000 cubic metres of dredged fill
12km of revetment protection and breakwater comprising:
1,300,000 cubic metres of quarry run bund core
650,000 cubic metres of secondary armour, filter stone toe berm etc
450,000 cubic metres of primary armour
Vessel berthing facilities comprising:
1,800 line m of gravity block quay wall with minimum 15m depth designed for containers,
general cargo, dry bulk and roll-on roll-off traffic
small craft berths
